All concerns about the quality of game viewing after the floods have been laid to rest firmly! Our drives have been as productive as ever with some brilliant sightings!

Willem was lucky enough to find a male leopard who was trapped in a tree by a herd of buffalo. He was just out of reach of the buffalo’s horns. The buff really tried to get at him, but to no avail. A brilliant sighting!
Further sightings include some cheetah, rhino, wild dog, elephant, more buffalo, lion, leopard, duiker, kudu, zebra, giraffe, impala, klipspringer and bushbuck.

2012 has arrived! May this year bring you lots of joy and happiness!
Game viewing in the Kruger National Park took off with a bang! Dylan and his guests had brilliant sightings with the Sabi Sands guests all of the big 5 as well as a pack of wild dog hunting, killing and eating a bush buck! Back in Kruger they were treated to a rare sighting of 3 cheetah being chased towards our game drive vehicle by 3 white rhino! Further sightings include a pride of lion on a buffalo kill loads of plains game and a rare black rhino!

It is a constant vigil trying to make visitors understand that even animals in more “zoo-like” environments are still wild animals. Despite numerous signs and warnings, we often see people in our National Parks driving with sliding doors of their minivans open & sometimes even getting out of their vehicles at lion or elephant sightings! The big question is how to get these people to understand that this is real life & not some TV program where animals are being handled & petted. We all have a responsibility towards conservation and the animals involved and invariably if someone (who cannot read or simply chooses to ignore the rules) breaks the rules, the animal involved ends up getting killed. At least it doesn’t sound like the lion in the article below will be punished for people’s disregard of the rules…
